The Galeshewe club made the most of their maiden stint in the equally freshly-created league by beating all comers for the top spot.
Safa have praised the success of Galeshewe-based Royal Wizards for coming up tops in the recently concluded Northern Cape Sasol League play-offs after beating Upington’s RC Mills 5-3 on aggregate in the two-legged contest.
Safa secretary Ponatshego Mondela yesterday congratulated the Wizards team on their win in the play-offs and wished them luck in the next stage of the competition.
“We hereby congratulate you on winning the provincial Sasol Women’s League. We wish you all the best as worthy provincial champions to go on and conquer the best of the best at the Sasol League national play-offs.”
The Sasol league national play-offs will take place in Durban from December 2 to 7.
Wizards will, despite this win, still campaign in the provincial competition as promotion to the higher National Women’s League is still restricted to the existing clubs for the next two years.
However, at the lower level Frances Baard Women’s Regional League, newly-crowned conference champions Diamond Ladies have a sweeter story to tell.
The Galeshewe club made the most of their maiden stint in the equally freshly-created league by beating all comers for the top spot.
Diamond Ladies will take up a spot in the regional women’s league play-offs on November 24. The venue for this match will be announced in due course, but what is certain is that the winner will take up a spot in the provincial Sasol League.
