The massive winning margin has put the front-runners in an even stronger position at the top of the standings
The interest generated in the Safa Frances Baard League is reaching fever pitch as the season begins to wind down.
This can be attested to by the large crowds that attended the League’s matches contested at the Galeshewe AstroTurf, where second-placed Real Madrid took on Delportshoop, and at the Galeshewe Stadium where log leaders Pescodia Porto soundly trounced Juventus.
The Real Madrid vs Delportshoop match fell flat, almost literally, when after 41 minutes in the first half the goalposts at one end of the park collapsed, forcing referee John Landella to blow off the match.
At this point in the game Real was already 4-0 ahead. However, due to the odd occurence of the goalposts falling over there is a very good possibility that the match will be replayed at a later date that is still to be verified.
There was some unrelated unruliness by some spectators during the game with a scuffle breaking out.
According to Safa Official Winston Mondela, the situation was quickly diffused, but he said he was very disappointed that the soccer lovers who had come to the game had to be exposed to such bad behaviour by some individuals.
Meanwhile, in the match played between Pes Porto and Juventus there was a collapse of another type when Porto, by the end of regulation time had put 27 goals past the Juventus goalkeeper. At half-time Porto were already 9-0 ahead.
The massive winning margin has put the front-runners in an even stronger position at the top of the standings.
