Northern Cape youngsters to get a chance to shine in Africa T20 Cup


Team will be made up of a blend of experience and youth

Northern Cape Cricket  will be looking at their youngsters to boost their team when the Africa T20 Cup comes to Kimberley this weekend.

According to Griqua coach, Loots Bosman, the team will be made up of a mixture of experienced and youngsters.
Bosman said some of the younger players expected to make an impact include Patrick Kruger, Grant Mokoena and Zandre Swartz.

“They will be supported and guided by our senior players such as captain Werner Coetzee, Mbulela Budaza and Zac Kathrada.
“The guys are looking forward to the tournament and will be doing their best while ensuring some exciting play,” Bosman said.

Northern Cape Cricket are playing in pool C of the tournament which includes Kenya, Free State and KwaZulu Natal.
All the matches will take place at the Diamond Oval.

Northern Cape Cricket narrowly lost to Eastern Province in last year’s final by 31 runs and will be hoping to walk away with the trophy this year.

Northern Cape Cricket will also host the semi-finals on September 24 and 25.

The Northern Cape Cricket squad for the competition is:  Werner Coetsee (capt), Aubrey Swanepoel, Patrick Kruger, Kagisho Mohale, Thandolwethu Mnyaka, Akhona Kula, Aiden Brooker, Grant Mokoena , Keegan Petersen, Richard Ntumka, Gerrit Snyman, Mbulelelo Budaza and Themba Maupa.
