After a tough fixture list, Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker is confident they can pick up their performance again.

STELLENBOSCH aren’t in panic mode yet as they look to end a six-match winless streak at Maritzburg United on Sunday’s 5pm PSL clash.

The run of three defeats and three draws has seen Steve Barker’s manne fall from second to sixth in the standings, even though their total of 22 points puts them just one point off new second-place holders Sekhukhune.

Having also faced Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu and Wednesday’s conquerors SuperSport United, Barker is mindful of giving context to their situation.

The boss explains: “We’ve come off quite a tough fixture list.

“We haven’t gotten the results that we wanted, but in terms of our competitiveness, we’ve closed the gap on them.

“Obviously, it’s been a while since we won a match.

“So we have to regroup and refresh for the Maritzburg game.

“They are always tough away from home and we have to put in a performance to get maximum points.”
