The return of the sponsors, Jonsson Workwear Depot for the New Year’s Cup 2019 attracted a keen entry with prizes valued at over R6 000. This saw nearly 100 players entered.
The winner’s silver trophy along with first prize went to Stefan Le Roux, who ended first on 40 points. The runner-up was Brenton Marthinus, just one point behind. Quinton Schaefer (37), Mano Liebenberg (37) and LJ Thomane (36) received the balance of the prizes.

The count-out placed Neville Alexander, Andries Kori, Jackie Beukes and Shane Arthur first to fourth. Carlo Alexander placed fifth on 18 points, also on a count-out.
Meanwhile, the Snowball draw took a tumble on R1 300. It was page 7 – number 35. Donald H Whitebooi, who was present and correct, and turned out to be a popular win.
Luchmen Poonawassy took the Thursday KWV Powerplay Niner with six pointers at the 13th and the 15th along with a gross 38, which had Luchmen post a winning 25 points. Tenderson Manyetsa, with six pointers at the 12th and the 15th, was the runner-up on 24.
A three-way count-out on 23 points placed Shane Arthur third. He posted an eight pointer and a six pointer. A further 18 powerplays were registered.
There is just two weeks to go to the 5 litre Roodeberg draw.
A total of 37 individual stableford points gave Barend Burger a comfortable win in the Red Tee Challenge on Wednesday. John O’Connell, Bennie Claasen and Gavin van Zyl were all also duly rewarded.
