NCC are hoping to kick on after a rocky start to the three-day competition.
Hammered
They opened their campaign against Eastern Province in Port Elizabeth earlier in the month and were hammered by eight wickets. They managed to redeem themselves somewhat in the one-dayer winning that nail-biter by six wickets, with five balls remaining in the game.
The top-order batsmen let NCC down in that first match, but the bowlers, Beyers Swanepoel 5/84 in 23.5 and Desmond de Koker 3/48 in 21 overs performed well.
This week the NCC players have been hard at work at the practice grounds working at ironing out their mistakes in order to perform better in the three-day fixture against KZN Coastal. Additionally, some of the NCC batsmen have been batting pretty well in the FBCA league matches but they will have to step up a degree or two to adapt to the pressures of provincial competition.
Unfortunately, no comments were forthcoming from the NCC coach JP Triegaardt at the time of going to press.
