Mark Charlton has brought a breath of fresh air and a renewed sense of hope to Northern Cape cricket.

The Northern Cape Cricket Union has expressed their admiration and gratitude for the positive impact Coach Mark Charlton has had on the province.

According to the Union, Charlton has brought a breath of fresh air and a renewed sense of hope to Northern Cape cricket. Rizwan Engelbrecht, Director at Northern Cape Cricket and Chairman of the Cricket Services Committee, praised Charlton’s revitalization of their cricket programmes and instillation of optimism within the province.

“As a company, we take immense pride in having a back-to-back CSA Coach of the Year in our ranks,” a proud Engelbrecht said.

While the public primarily notices the visible changes and successes at the senior level, the association acknowledges the broader impact Charlton has had on the entire cricket ecosystem. They highlight the transformation in the pipeline development programme, as well as a shift in the mindset of young players and their parents.

This has led to increased participation in all Northern Cape Cricket programmes and a surge in talented players choosing to remain in the province.

“Every young cricketer in the province now aspires to play under the guidance of the best coach in the country. We are witnessing a revival in our pipeline programme, which had faced challenges in the past.

“Charlton’s influence has given us hope for the emergence of a long-awaited golden era of cricketers,” Engelbrecht added.

There is definitely much excitement at the Northern Cape Cricket Union headquarters since the Union successfully secured the services of coach Mark Charlton for the next two years prior to the prestigious awards ceremony.

Thapelo January, the CEO of the Northern Cape Cricket Union, expressed immense satisfaction at retaining Charlton’s expertise.

“Being a two-time Division 2 Coach of the Year has undoubtedly elevated Charlton’s standing as a highly sought-after cricket coach. We are overjoyed that we could secure his commitment to the Northern Cape.
