NC Bowls ready to bring home the trophy

In 2018, Northern Cape Bowls secured the coveted Under-30 Inter District Championship title, and now in 2023, they are hoping to bring that title home again.

Northern Cape Bowls is preparing to compete in the highly anticipated 2023 Bowls South Africa Under-30 Inter District Championship. This esteemed event, sanctioned by Bowls South Africa and hosted at the prestigious Klerksdorp Bowling Club by North West Bowls, promises an exciting display of emerging bowling talent from across the country.

Two formidable teams are gearing up for top-tier competition. Team one, led by the shrewd Charles Peter Mathewson, includes Driaan van Niekerk, Charl Labuschagne, and Andrei Matthee. The second team, captained by Skip Le Roux Fourie, features the formidable talents of Japie Steyn, Danie Herholdt, and Janet Brand, with the seasoned guidance of Team Manager René van Niekerk.

In 2018, Northern Cape Bowls secured the coveted Under-30 Inter District Championship title, and now in 2023, they are hoping to bring that title home again.

Mathewson and Van Niekerk were both members of the 2018 championship-winning squad, and the memory in the back of their minds is no doubt pushing them forward to become champions again.

The Northern Cape bowling fraternity is now holding thumbs for these athletes in the hope of glory and for them to keep the Province’s name high by bringing back the trophy to where it belongs.
