The Sol Plaatje Local Football Association (SPLFA) is gearing up for the inaugural MEKAN Group Youth Month Tournament, set to take place from June 15 to 17.

This new event, hosted at Galeshewe Stadium and the FNB Astro Turf, aims to become a significant fixture on the local football calendar, promoting youth development and community engagement.

The tournament serves several purposes. It offers the SPLFA a chance to evaluate the progress of their elite development teams across different age groups, essential for nurturing future football talent.

Additionally, it provides young players with crucial exposure, helping their cognitive and social development, and serving as a training ground for SPLFA’s administrative staff to improve their event organization skills.

Teams from Ritchie, Plaatfontein, Reverton, Greenpoint, Roodepan, and Galeshewe will compete in various divisions, including Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, SPLFA Women’s Teams, and the Promotion League.

This diversity will see young talents and female athletes showcasing their skills and competing for recognition and experience.

The tournament is made possible through a partnership with MEKAN GROUP, whose support and sponsorship are vital.

The collaboration between SPLFA and MEKAN GROUP aims to mobilize resources effectively and ensure the event runs smoothly, setting a strong foundation for future tournaments and enhancing the sporting landscape in Sol Plaatje.
