The 2024 Lupus Classic is set to ignite excitement next week, Saturday, May 11, when the cycle race gets under way at the Flamingo Casino in Kimberley.

The event promises to help spectators and participants alike to embrace the joy of cycling and strengthen community bonds

This eagerly anticipated event, organised by Blade Health and Wellness caters to families and cycling enthusiasts alike, promises a day packed with challenges, camaraderie, and family-friendly activities, commencing bright and early at 7am.

In addition to the DFA being the media partner for the cycle race, what distinguishes this year’s Lupus Classic is its partnership with Mediclinic Gariep. Denise Coetzee, the hospital’s patient experience manager, highlights their commitment to ensuring participants’ well-being throughout the event.

Mediclinic Gariep will be on hand at the race’s commencement, offering health checks and medical assistance if required. Additionally, they’re contributing prizes to enhance the event’s excitement.

For those eager to participate, time is of the essence. Early registration is encouraged to secure a spot on this action-packed day. With options catering to solo cyclists and families, the Lupus Classic welcomes riders of all ages and skill levels.

Solo cyclists can choose from three bike categories – mountain, road, or e-bikes – and tackle either a 40km scenic route or a challenging 92km course tailored for experienced riders.

Beyond the race, the Lupus Classic prioritises safety and comfort. With ample water stations and medical support from ER24 along the route, participants can ride with peace of mind.

The organisers have spared no effort to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. From comprehensive safety measures to a vibrant atmosphere with refreshments and entertainment at the Flamingo Casino, participants can anticipate a day filled with memorable moments and shared passions.

Registration for the Lupus Classic closes on Thursday, May 9, with race pack collection on Friday, May 10 at the Flamingo Casino. Late entries will not be accepted, so secure your spot before the deadline.
