The Sol Plaatje Masters Football League (SMFL) will on Sunday observe the fifth staging of the annual Rehana Moshoeshoe Memorial tournament with a pre-match march to the AR Abass Stadium in Square Hill Park.

Officials, players and fans will gather at the Barkly Road Shoprite centre in Santa Square in preparation for the march that will start at 9am sharp. Participants are urged to be at Santa Square well before the start of the march.

SMFL secretary Archie Jack also announced that all 29 registered SMFL league clubs were actively contributing towards the Rehana Moshoeshoe family trust. The trust is independently controlled and is used to assist the Moshoeshoe family and others in a similar situation with their search efforts for missing relatives. Jack said contributions are also welcomed from members of the general public as well as institutions.

He said that preparations for the staging of the annual tournament were well under way and added that the association and supporters hoped to express their support for the anti-Gender Based Violence campaign which is aimed at promoting safety for the vulnerable.

In all, the association will stage six matches at the AR Abass Stadium on the day starting with the opening game at 10.30am. The full fixture list will appear in tomorrow’s DFA.
