Kevin Nkoane Primary School’s Under-14 girls’ soccer team, showcasing exceptional talent and determination, were crowned the undisputed champions of the recent inter-regional games.

The school team represented the Sol Plaatje Municipality in a fierce competition against the teams representing the municipalities of Magareng, Dikgatlong and Phokwane.

In a thrilling series of matches, the young athletes displayed their prowess and team spirit, leaving an indelible mark on the tournament. The opening match saw Kevin Nkoane Primary clash with Olehile Manchwe Primary from Phokwane, the game ended in a nail-biting 1-0 victory for the Kevin Nkoane team.

The team next faced Hoërskool Vaalrivier from Dikgatlong, and Kevin Nkoane’s momentum only grew stronger as the players demonstrated their exceptional skills by triumphing with an impressive 8-0 scoreline.

Their third and final match of the tournament was equally intense, as Kevin Nkoane Primary secured another victory and another clean sheet with a 2-0 win against Tlhatlogang School from Magareng.

Undoubtedly, the star player of the tournament was the remarkable Mpumelelo Moncho, a sixth-grade learner at Kevin Nkoane Primary School. With an incredible 10 goals to her name, Moncho’s exceptional performance not only kept her school on a winning streak but also earned her the moniker ‘Jazzqueen’.

Moncho’s goal tally now stands at an astonishing 24, a record-breaking feat that has yet to be matched in the history of the tournament.

The dedicated leadership of Coach Mbulelo Jack and his assistant coach Thato Tsomagae has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s success. As they prepare for the upcoming provincial finals, the coaches extend their gratitude to the community for their unwavering support.

Coach Jack expressed his pride in the team’s journey up to this point, saying, “We have seen remarkable growth and unity within the team. The girls have worked incredibly hard, and we are excited to compete at the provincial level. We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has rallied behind us.”
