The Postmasburg team thus far boasts the highest goals tally in the League’s inland stream in eight league games played thus far.

Postmasburg’s Hungry Lions football club have devoured all opponents in the revived season of the Northern Cape’s ABC Motsepe League to stand at position one after an eight-match winning streak.

Lions, the inland campaigners, over the weekend sealed their spot at the top tier of the log standings with a 3-1 win at home against Kimberley’s Real Madrid FC. They rounded off the weekend with a thorough 0-4 thumping of Colville United.

The Postmasburg team thus far boasts the highest goals tally at 22 in their favour and a paltry three scored against them in eight league games played thus far.

Lions have 24 points on the books while the runners-up, neighbours Tsantsabane Stars FC, have amassed half those points at 12 courtesy of three wins, three drawn games and a loss.

As for Real Madrid this usually forward focused team is finding the going tough in their first season in the senior league. Madrid hold up the bottom trench where they have been ensconced since proceedings started.

Madrid have one drawn game and a string of six losses.

In the coastal stream Kathu’s NC Professionals hold prime position with 19 points from seven matches which include a single drawn game. They also boast the highest goal tally for both streams with 27 goals scored and a mere three goals conceded to their opponents.

Professionals team manager Robert Sebastian said that they planned to continue in this way going forward. “We most definitely intend to hold on to our (log) lead. There is no way we can let go of this advantage.”

League newcomers CF Mots are still searching for their scoring boots considering that they have notched up a mere two league wins and five losses. For now they reside at the bottom rung of the coastal stream.

In the Kakamas weekend derby Juventus had the better of their hosts Sundowns beating them by two goals to one (2-1).
