Hungry Lion and Liverpool fight hard but share spoils

Weekend round-up.

NC Liverpool tried every weapon they had at their disposal to get the better of visiting Postmasburg team Hungry Lions on Saturday at the AR Abass Stadium during an ABC Motsepe League game which eventually ended goalless.

The game started like two boxers matching up in a ring with both determined to emerge the winner. Liverpool took no chances with this fixture fielding a full-strength squad which, among others, included the likes of Katlego Mosing, Keletso Kgoele and Simphiwe Chauke.

Liverpool coach Solomon Ngo expressed his satisfaction with the result even though he lamented that they could not collect the full points.

Before the game got under way, Hungry Lions coach Shabba Baise was saying that he came to Kimberley to get the full points and predicted that his side will win the game.

In his line-up were some of the big boys of the game including former Bloemfontein Celtic striker Moses Spandeel as well as another professional player Gilbert Rudige and Mfundisi Nkosi.

Hungry Lions’ whole executive in turn were out in full force and were awaiting the announcement that they would be part of the Nedbank Cup Last 32 inclusions. All they needed was confirmation of this via the anticipated draw sometime in the new year.

Saturday’s match itself was kind of humdrum. Both sides probed at each others goalposts but this was singularly unsuccessful.

In another league game at the same pitch Father Christmas made an early delivery of presents for Colville United. The Colville side nailed Kuruman Kicks 5-1 in a match over which they ruled the roost. United’s Nazier Fish bagged a hat-trick while teammate Delano Abrahams and Liston Brouwers each snatched a goal from the match. Kuruman Kicks player Karabo Dikgalenyane scored the visitors only goal in the match.
