There is, as always, plenty going on at the Kimberley Golf Club this week, starting today with the Taylormade sponsored nine-hole competition at 3pm. This will be followed tomorrow, between 9am and 12noon, by a Taylormade club fitment opportunity, open to all golfers. Also tomorrow midday sees the monthly Konica Minolta Business League August outing.

Thursday and Friday are the KWV Powerplay Niner and the Sun Flamingo Niner, respectively. At the weekend it is a Saturday Club competition followed by the Sunday Sealing Solutions League, the format for the latter singles will be matchplay.

This will be the final round for qualifying section of the 2019 league. Thereafter the top four teams compete in the A section and the bottom four teams compete in the B section.

Meanwhile, this past week, Saturday’s IPS had AJ Durant first on 39 points. Mike Vigne and Andries Kori were second and third, each on 38. Zayhied Suliman was the final prize-winner on 37.

Friday’s Women’s Day Golf Tournament, a fourball alliance two scores to count, saw Steven Turner, Stephan Le Roux and Joshua and Jamie Edwards post the top score, 87 points. The runners-up on 84 on a count-out were Andries Kori, Francois Schwartz, LJ Thomane and Ivan Coetzee.

However, the shot of the day belonged solely to Donald Whitebooi who carded a hole-in-one on the par-three 14th.

Thursday’s KWV Powerplay Niner attracted particularly outstanding results. Ultimately Machiel Cronjé returned the winning score – 29 points. Evan Painting was second on 28 and Nico Ross was third on 27.

Between them, they recorded several six- and eight-pointers for the draw.

The Wednesday Darsha Insurance Brokers IPS was won by Barries van Zyl on 39 points. Kevin Collings and Mike Doherty followed on 35 points each.
