A pair of six-pointers gave Mike Visser the edge in the Thursday KWV Powerplay Niner, his winning score 22 points
After two rounds Gladys Poonawassy was not only the winner of the 50-59 division but also the overall winner of the NC Senior Women’s 2019 Championships. Susan Ferreira claimed the 60-69 division, while Noreen Anne Crozier claimed the 70 and over division.
On Sunday Nico Ross added a gross 76 to his previous day’s 73 for an aggregate 149 to win his first Senior Golfers Society of the Northern Cape (SGSNC) Championships. Gavin Schafer was the runner-up on 153. A 141 net gave Mike Vigne the best net of the tournament. Nigel Page was the runner-up on net 145. The low round of the championship belonged to Keith Brown, a one-under par 71.
Muzapher Allie posted a winning 41 points in the Saturday IPS. Two players followed on 40 points, Donald Whitebooi and Allan Doherty. Yusuf Khana was third, alone on 39 points. Zunaid Mobara was fifth on 38 points.
The top five players in the popular Sun Flamingo Friday Niner weekly event were Jackie Beukes (20), Peter Salo (20), Mietie Aysen (19), Thabang Sibono (19) and Francois Schwartz (18).

Angelo Rodrigues was the top player in the Wednesday Darsha Insurance Brokers IPS, his score 39 points. Dries du Plessis was second on 38 points. The final three prizewinners all scored 36 points – Adrian McLaren, Lennie Allen and Barend Burger.

Today and tomorrow it is the KWV Powerplay Niner followed by the Sun Flamingo Niner. Friday night also has the snowball draw at R1 250.
On Saturday there is the Sol Plaatje University Chancellor’s Golf Day, a special annual event not to be missed. On Sunday it is round two of the Sealing Solutions League, the format Greensomes.
