WARRENTON Bowls Club last weekend hosted the local Bokamoso Jukskei club for a fun filled Friendship Cup tournament.

Tournament organiser Jacques Swanepoel said the local jukskei club was looking for an area where their teams could practice and enjoy their sport.

With the help from both clubs a temporary playing surface was created for them to use. The plan is to incorporate both clubs in the area around the current club house, he said.

For the Friendship Cup both clubs entered two teams and invited the community to try their hand at both sports.

“The main goal of both clubs is to gain members and also to get the community active. After a bit of training the two clubs each played against each to determine the winner for the day”.

But in the end with beginners luck the bowls club won three out of four events. But at the end of the day sport and friendship came out overall winners.

The tournament organisers also asked anyone wanting to help the Jukskei club getting more permanent structures in place to please contact Mpho on 079-908-3668.

Mpho can also be contacted if there is anyone wanting to get involved in traditional games like jukskei in Warrenton, Jan Kempdorp or Hartswater area. To get involved in bowls in the same areas please contact Jacques 083-983-5200.
