THE SOL Plaatje Local Football Association is set to hold its Extraordinary Elective Congress on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the King George Artificial Turf, starting at 10am.

The Congress is expected to elect a new executive committee that will take forward the mandate of football as agreed upon by Congress and the statutes of the Association.

Preceding the extraordinary congress was a general council meeting of all members and affiliates, which outlined the processes and procedures for holding the elective congress. During this meeting, member clubs were also educated on the amendments to the new statutes adopted by the South African Football Association (SAFA).

The general council resolved to condone the requirements and timelines for holding the Ordinary Elective Congress, resulting in the holding of the Extraordinary Congress on the aforementioned date.

The nomination process for contestants and candidates for the executive positions closed on May 1, 2023. The consolidated list of nominated candidates will be tabled before the general council on May 4, 2023, for members to lobby each other for a preferred executive committee.

The committee responsible for administering the elections will also prepare for their role as outlined in the SPLFA’s statutes.

The Association would like to encourage and request that all member clubs exercise their constitutional right to elect an executive committee of their choice to advance the mandate of football development in the Sol Plaatje jurisdiction.

It is essential that member clubs participate fully in the election process to ensure that the new executive committee represents the interests of all member clubs and works towards the betterment of football in the region.

The Sol Plaatje Local Football Association has been working tirelessly to promote football development in the region. The association’s mandate includes creating opportunities for young people to participate in the sport, promoting a culture of fair play and sportsmanship, and supporting the growth of local football clubs.

The association believes that the election of a new executive committee will further strengthen these efforts and take them to new heights.

In conclusion, the Sol Plaatje Local Football Association’s Extraordinary Elective Congress is an essential event that will shape the future of football in the region.

All member clubs are encouraged to participate fully in the election process, which will ensure that the new executive committee represents their interests and works towards the betterment of football in the Sol Plaatje jurisdiction.
