BIG BOXING and Mixed Martial Arts fanatics are counting the days before the Diamond City stages the most spectacular contests ever witnessed hereabouts in a long while at Kimberley’s Flamingo Casino thanks to promoter Russel Bindeman’s Fight Arts company.

Fight Arts Promotions will on Saturday night, June 25 stage the biggest fights at the Flamingo Casino with boxers from various provinces taking part in several weight divisions ranging from heavyweight to the flyweight division.

The night’s boxing bill will also have an all-female bout to bolster the undercard’s gender positive credentials.

Bindeman’s Fight Arts Promotions is putting on a veritable mouthwatering mixed bag of conventional boxing and Jiu Jitsu bouts at the casino. The Jiu Jitsu bouts start at noon. The first of the professional boxing fights will begin at 3pm. There are a total of 10 contests scheduled which features four fighters from the Northern Cape.

The promoter this week confirmed that the main bout will be the junior featherweight division ticket where Welkom’s Gift Pilane will battle for supremacy of the card against Mthombeni Quvile from Johannesburg.

Not much is known about most of the fighters on the undercard except that many of the match-ups on the night will be among novices to the fight game.

The Northern Cape gets a fair share of the billing with Masana Manganyi of Postmasburg getting to exchange leather with Xolani Xaluva in the heavyweight division. Manganyi’s stablemate and homeboy Thapelo Mogenene will accompany him to the Diamond City fight fest.

Kimberlite Mosa Ntlangula features on the undercard as does Kagiso ‘King’ Hlungwani. Ntlangula will get into the ring against Tshiamo Zwane of Johannesburg in the junior flyweight decider. Hlungwani will meet Dale Neethling in the square ring for the light heavyweight division upmanship.

Bindeman’s promotion is also taking care of the fairer class by featuring a women’s category which will see Simamkele Mtshutsheni of Cape Town take the fight for the lightweight division to Ficksburg to Free State pugilist Cherise Smith in the only all female bout.

Flamingo Casino general manager Themba Marasha said: “We are thrilled to be the host of this event which promises skilful fighting and plentiful excitement and action. We hope that local fight fans will come out and support our young talent who will be showcasing their skills and courage inside the ring.”

Tickets for the event are R250 per person and will be available at the Flamingo Casino’s Open Court. Prospective fight spectators may also book tickets via WhatsApp at cellular phone number 073-005-9703.

The ticket will be forwarded via the same channel to the purchaser.
