HUNGRY Lions and Pretoria Callies played to a goalless draw in their National First Division match at the Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley on Saturday afternoon.
The possibility of a draw was always on the cards with these two teams historically being involved in tight tussles over the years. In five previous encounters, since April 2022, the teams have drawn three games, along with a single win from either team.
The latest draw leaves the teams pretty much where they were on the table after seven games, and with plenty of work to do in the weeks ahead.
The Northern Cape-based team now turn their attention to another clash with a Pretoria team as they travel up north for their match against the University of Pretoria next Sunday (October 27).
Merely looking at the log positions, Hungry Lions should be able to squeeze a win out on the road with Pretoria University still down in 11th place.
However, the team from Tshwane have a game in hand, and could boost their log spot and their confidence before the teams meet next weekend. They host bottom side Highbury FC on Sunday, October 20, at 3.30pm and will be determined to hammer a nail into the bottom-dwellers’ coffin.
Whatever the outcome though, Hungry Lions may very well have a ‘Surprise’ in store for the University team next week, if they decide to unleash their new signing, Bradley Ralani.
For now, though, it’s a case of wait and see.
