Diamond Ladies Football Club is in the final stages of preparation for the highly anticipated national Engen Tournament, set to take place from September 27 to 29 at WITS Marks Park in Johannesburg.
Participation in this tournament marks a significant milestone for the Kimberley-based team as they gear up to face some of the most competitive sides in South African women’s football.
The local players are buzzing with excitement at the prospect of representing their province on such a prestigious platform. They view the tournament as more than just a competition, but see it as a golden opportunity to showcase their talent and take a step closer to their dreams.

Speaking about the team’s readiness, a member of the coaching staff spoke to the DFA and emphasised the solid preparation the players have undergone. “Our squad will still be qualifying for three seasons in the same competition,” the representative said, expressing confidence in the long-term potential of the team.
“From a technical point of view, our girls are looking ready both physically and psychologically.”
Meanwhile, club chairman Jack Junior Mbulelo echoed this optimism, expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming support the team has received.
“We are truly thankful for the backing we’ve received from the local football associations and other stakeholders across the province,” Mbulelo said, highlighting how vital community involvement has been in the lead-up to this momentous event for the team.
