THE leader of the South African attack, Kagiso Rabada, continues to shine in the IPL, with another top performance over the weekend.

Rabada, impressed, as he claimed 4/21 for the Delhi Capitals to keep the Royal Challengers Bangalore to 149/8, and sealing the Player of the Match award.

“Today my lines worked for me, and I’m glad,” he said. “On a daily basis, you try to execute your simple skills. And not all the time does it work perfectly, but you should try to get it in a decent area.

“As a player, I believe I have a responsibility at the top and at the death.”

Rabada already has vast experience in all formats of the game and barring injury will be the leader of the SA bowling line-up for most of the next decade.

Not too many 23-year-olds can boast 37 Test appearances, 66 One-Day International caps and 19 T20 International matches.

Meanwhile, as his experience continues to mount, so does his responsibility. While in-game responsibility comes easy to Rabada, fulfilling leadership roles is less natural. But he is learning to give back.

“To be honest, I don’t see myself as a leader in the bowling group,” he said. “But if someone needs advice or needs my help, I’m always there.”
