CAPE Cobras wicketkeeper/ batsman Kyle Verreynne has been called up to the Proteas’ T20I squad for the first time in his career.

The 23-year-old already has three ODI caps to his name – last of which was earned against Australia in March last year.

Not having played for the T20I team yet, Verreynne is in line to make his debut against Pakistan when they tour South Africa next month for three ODIs and four T20Is.

Verreynne isn’t the only uncapped player called up to the T20 squad, with the Lions’ Sisanda Magala and the VKB Knights’ Migael Pretorius also cracking the nod.

There were also first-time call-ups for Warriors all-rounder Wihan Lubbe (T20) and Titans fast bowler Lizaad Williams (both squads).

Convenor of selectors Victor Mpitsang says of the squads: “We’re very excited about these two squads that we have selected for our home tour against Pakistan …

“To Temba [Bavuma] our new captain, all the best to him and the rest of the teams for the upcoming tour.”
