Northern Cape Cricket (NCC) yesterday invited Kimberley’s cricket lovers to their third Senior Rural Cricket Week in the City. The 50-over format Cricket Week starts today and runs until Monday.

Shaheed Alexander, NCC Cricket Services Manager told the DFA that they were looking forward to an exciting competition.“It is an honour for us at NC Cricket to host the Week and we are looking forward to some good cricket being played amongst the teams that qualified,” Alexander said.

The first Rural Cricket Week held in Kimberley was in 2010 and the second in 2017.

Eight teams will be participating after they qualified from an Inland and Coastal Week held last year. Unfortunately, the Northern Cape Rural team did not qualify.

Alexander said that the weather may be a big factor during the competition.

“As we are experiencing much-needed rain in Kimberley at present I just hope that we will get in some games,” he said.

“Matches will be played at various venues in the City and we wish all the teams the best of luck and may the best team be victorious at the end of the week,” Alexander added.

The qualifying teams, are: Coastal; Boland, EP Grahamstown, Border Villages, Border Aloes

Inland; KZN Coastal, Limpopo, North West, Mpumalanga.
