Kaizer Chiefs’ coach, Giovanni Solinas (pictured), is demanding consistency from his troops.

Chiefs have been blowing hot and cold this season. This past weekend they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Polokwane City in an Absa Premiership tussle at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Vusumuzi Mngomezulu netted a stunner to hand his side the precious three points away from home.

The defeat for Amakhosi ended their eight-game unbeaten streak in the league.

Speaking after the game, Solinas said he wants his side to show consistency.

“The next game is important because it is a derby. It is a special game. It is very important for the supporters and the club. We need to improve our performances. We need to be more consistent,” Solinas explained.

Amakhosi will face their traditional rivals in their next league assignment at the FNB Stadium on October 27.

Solinas is yet to win against big opponents in his tenure with Amakhosi. He succumbed to defeats against Bidvest Wits and SuperSport while sharing the spoils with Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Every three points is important. Three points is three points it doesn’t matter whether you got it against Sundowns or against AmaZulu. Three points is three points. The most important part is consistency,” Solinas said.

Chiefs are third on the table with 14 points after 10 games.

“This season is like last season. The PSL is balanced. We will fight for the title until May when the league is finished. The level of the PSL has improved. The gap between the small clubs and the bigger teams has been reduced. Everyone is fighting and everyone can compete. Kaizer Chiefs is also competing to win the league. Despite the fact that we lost today, we are still competing for the league,” he added.

When he was quizzed about his side’s display, Solinas replied: “The team performed well in the second half. It was not an easy game. The guys were more positive in the second half. This is football, they created one chance and they won the game. Polokwane City is a good side.”
