Another bad day at the ‘office’ for NCC Under-19s

Following their loss to South Western Districts in the Khaya Majola Under-19 Cricket Week on Monday, the Northern Cape Cricket Under-19 team once again failed in another Time Cricket match against their Easterns counterparts at the MHS Meadows Oval in Pietermaritzburg yesterday.

Electing to bat first, NCC was skittled out for a miserable 114 in just 33.4 overs in their first innings. The highest contributions with the bat came from Foster Lubbe (23) and Casper du Plessis (22) who got starts but could not kick on against a motivated Easterns bowling attack.

Belligerent

The best of the Easterns bowlers were Baadal Parag with 4/13 from 6.4 overs and Adriaan de Vries 2/27 from 8.

In reply, Easterns scored 216/7 declared in 50.2 overs, setting Northern Cape a target of 103. The Easterns opening batsmen, Saahil Khan (32) and Neil Bothma (37), who posted a 43-run opening stand, while WP Myburgh (30) and a belligerent Bonginkosi Skhosana (61 not out) went to town against the NCC bowlers.

The best of the NCC bowlers was Resegofaditswe Mothibi with 4/54 from his 14 overs.

NCC managed 49/5 (all out) in their second innings, with Joshua Barends top-scoring with 20 while Nsizwa Motsogi took 2/1 for Easterns, thus sealing the innings and 53-run victory.
