The 2024 turfWAR Primary Schools Hockey Festival, held recently at Keeley Park and the Cassandra AstroTurf, was declared a major success by organisers.

Drawing in more than 350 enthusiastic participants from schools across Kimberley and surrounding areas, the event showcased the incredible talent and passion for hockey among young players.

Special recognition was given to Jim Fouché and Futurum Akademie from Jan Kempdorp, who travelled a considerable distance to be part of this year’s festivities.

With vibrant energy and an eager crowd, the event was a bag of thrills from start to finish. Yet, it was the games played on the AstroTurf that stole the spotlight. The skill and dedication of the players on the artificial surface proved that the future of hockey in South Africa is very bright.

In the end, it can be said that the 2024 turfWAR Festival not only celebrated the exciting game of hockey but also built camaraderie among schools and set a strong foundation for future competitions.
