DURBAN – Pick n Pay released a statement on Facebook in response to a Pic n Pay scam which came to light on Thursday.

The scam was a link that people were sending to each other via Whatsapp. The link, when clicked on led to a site that claimed that Pick n Pay was giving away a gift voucher worth R4 000 to celebrate their 50th birthday.
Pick n Pay released their statement via Facebook which clearly stated that Pick n Pay was no way involved in the scam and they were not giving away gift cards. They also encouraged people not to click on the link or give away any of their personal information.

Just last month there was another scam that involved Pick n Pay. This scam was doing the rounds on Facebook with people sharing the link on their social media pages. Once someone clicked on the link they would be directed to a website where they would answer three questions from a survey before the post was shared on to their own timeline.
The scam offered a R1 500 coupon from the retailer. Facebook also had online safety tips attached to the post so people can take steps to be safe while on the internet.
