Young woman missing after hitching a ride

The Griekwastad police have issued an appeal to the public for assistance in locating a 22-year-old woman who went missing after hitching a lift with an unidentified man.

THE POLICE have issued a public appeal for assistance in locating 22-year-old Michelle Hartbees, a resident of 7 Gemsbok Street, Rainbow Valley in Griekwastad.

Hartbees was last seen leaving her home to visit her cousin at a nearby farm on Saturday, April 13. She is believed to have hitched a lift in a silver motor vehicle driven by an unidentified man of light complexion who spoke Afrikaans.

At the time of her disappearance, Hartbees was dressed in brown tracksuit pants, a white top, pink sandals and a pink and white beanie.

Anyone with information about Hartbees’ whereabouts is urged to contact Sergeant Micheal Rooibaardt at 060 963 6885 or 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app. All information received will be treated confidentially.

The police have also reminded the public that there is no waiting period to report a person missing.
