Woman re-arrested after failing to appear in court

The Hawks Serious Organised Crime team rearrested a Northern Cape woman for failure to appear in court pertaining to her ongoing case for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

THE HAWKS Serious Organised Crime team re-arrested Mellisa Skennette for failure to appear in court pertaining to her ongoing case for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Tebogo Thebe said Skennette was out on R1,000 bail and was supposed to appear in court on Wednesday, July 6 on the above-mentioned charge.

“A warrant of arrest was issued against her. The team followed up on all possible leads in tracing the accused. She was re-arrested on Saturday in Barkly West,” said Thebe.

Skennette is expected to appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court on Monday for failing to honour a court order and possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and stun grenade.
