The Galeshewe police are investigating a rape case following the sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman near a well-known tavern in Number 2, Galeshewe on Sunday.
THE GALESHEWE SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit is investigating a rape case following the sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman near a well-known tavern in Number 2, Galeshewe on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred when the victim stepped out of the tavern to make a phone call for a cab to ferry her home.
Sam explained that a man approached the woman from behind.
“As she was talking on her cellphone an unknown male person approached her from behind, strangled her and pressed a knife in her stomach, instructing her to move with him to a nearby house. Fearing for her life, she complied. The suspect forced her into a toilet and raped her,” said Sam.
The suspect was described as tall and dark in complexion, of slender build and speaks Setswana.
The police have requested the public’s assistance with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect and the investigation of the case.
