A 49-YEAR-old Groblershoop woman was arrested for dealing in dagga after police discovered a dagga plantation on her plot.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba, said that police discovered more than 740 plants on the plantation on Tuesday night.

“Police received information about the dagga plantation on a plot in Groblershoop in the ZF Mgcawu Cluster outside Upington. Police discovered the dagga plantation with 743 plants. The monetary street value of the plants has not yet been estimated. However, the plants are presumably valued at several thousand rand.”

Ramatseba said that the woman is expected to appear in court today.

“The owner of the plot is expected to appear before the Groblershoop Magistrate’s Court on March 22, facing a charge of dealing in dagga.

“The station commander of Groblershoop police station, Colonel Clifford Moorcroft, has applauded members for a job well done. He pointed out that the intervention will tremendously address the circulation of dagga in Groblershoop and surrounding areas. Police investigations are continuing,” Ramatseba added.
