Unlike the three other accused, the woman was only charged with possession of suspected stolen goods.
A 27-YEAR-old woman will be added to the group of three accused who are linked to the brutal attack on Kimberley businessman Piet Els and his partner.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kock, said, however, that unlike the three other accused, the woman was only charged with possession of suspected stolen goods.
“On Wednesday, February 14, at about 11pm, a 27-year-old woman was arrested at a house in Galeshewe. The police found a coin collection, jewellery and car keys that allegedly belong to the victims. The suspect will be charged with possession of suspected stolen goods and should be appearing in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Kock.
The three accused, Morapedi Rankali, Motlalentwe Qhautse and Thuso Ramolo, who were charged with housebreaking, rape, robbery and contravention of the Immigration Act, will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court next week for the continuation of their bail application.
Rankali took to the witness stand on Tuesday to give testimony in his bail application.
The accused were arrested following an incident which took place on January 24, where Els and his partner were viciously attacked and tortured in the early hours of that morning by four men who forced their way into the bedroom of Els’ farmhouse.
The men fled the scene with firearms, jewellery, cash and cellphones in Els’ white Mercedes Benz, which was later found abandoned next to the R31 road to Barkly West.
All the accused remain in custody.
