Woman arrested for human trafficking

It is alleged that the victims were lured from Upington to Sandton where they were forced into prostitution.

THE CASE against a 24-year-old woman, Luzinda Abrahams has been postponed to Thursday, June 9, 2022 after she made a brief appearance on a charge of human trafficking in the Randburg Magistrate’s court on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Northern Cape Hawks spokesperson, Captain Tebogo Thebe said the suspect was arrested on Monday, June 6 by the Upington Hawks following an intensive investigation.

“It is alleged that the victims were lured from Upington to Sandton where they were forced into prostitution. Three of the victims have since been rescued from Sandton. It is further alleged that the suspect did unlawfully, falsely and intentionally defrauded Clockwork Properties by forging a document in writing,” said Thebe.

He added that the suspect will on Thursday join her co-accused in the matter, Uzoaga Obinna Emmanuel and Okwudili James Okwudili.
