A 44-year-old Northern Cape woman was arrested after she was found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R6,615.
A 44-YEAR-old Northern Cape woman was arrested after being found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R6,615 when the vehicle she was travelling in was stopped and searched.
Kakamas SAPS spokesperson Captain CJ Prins said police members received information from intelligence on Monday, at about 6pm, that a vehicle was allegedly transporting dagga from Kakamas to Pofadder.
The police members set up a vehicle control point in front of the station and subsequently stopped the suspect vehicle.
“Upon searching the vehicle, Constable Pinky Phonene found a 44-year-old woman sitting at the back of the vehicle with plastic bags with her, containing dagga with an estimated street value of R6,615,” said Prins.
The Kakamas station commander, Colonel Andries Witbooi, lauded the police members for their “swift action” in affecting the arrest and thanked the community for their assistance.
