A 28-YEAR-OLD woman accused of shooting and critically injuring an alleged drug dealer, Rodger Johnson, appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Monday to apply for bail.

The bail hearing of Keitumetse Hofuza, 28, was, however, postponed after chaos broke out and safety concerns were raised.

The hearing was held in camera under a heavy police presence – inside and outside the court building – before being postponed. Members of the public were also forced to leave the courtroom.

It is believed that the same security measures will apply on Tuesday.

Johnson was shot five times in front of the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, December 23 after he had appeared in court for attempted murder and been granted bail of R2,000 .

Johnson was rushed to hospital in a critical state after suffering two gunshot wounds in the back, one in the shoulder, one in the chest and one in the arm.

Hofuza apparently handed herself over to the police on the same day of the incident.

It is believed that Hofuza is the girlfriend of a “rival” of Johnson.

Eyewitnesses indicated that Hofuza was seen attending Johnson’s court proceedings on a regular basis before the shooting incident.
