AMIDST a heavy police presence at the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, Keitumetse Hofuza, 28, who is accused of shooting an alleged local drug dealer, abandoned her bail application.

The case, which was held in camera, was postponed until January 20 for further investigation.

Hofuza is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting and injuring Rodger Johnson on December 23.

Johnson was shot outside of the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court right after he had been granted bail of R2,000 on a charge of attempted murder.

It is believed that Hofuza is the girlfriend of a “rival gangster”.

A heavy police presence was once again evident inside and outside the court on Tuesday, with heavily-armed police officers also sealing off all the roads around the court building.

The postponement and high security was also apparently out of concern of possible “retaliatory” attacks and a possible gang war.
