The accused Miriam Tau, 40, was arrested at the Indian Centre in Kimberley.
THE wife who allegedly conspired to kill her husband intends to reapply for bail.
The accused Miriam Tau, 40, was arrested at the Indian Centre in Kimberley on May 15, following an intelligence-driven and surveillance operation, led by the South African Police Services (SAPS) and its undercover agents.
National prosecuting authority regional spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane on Thursday said Tau’s case has been transferred to the Kimberley Regional Court.
“Tau was denied bail on May 27 by the court after the prosecution successfully opposed the bail application. However the accused has indicated that she will be reapplying for bail based on new facts. On her previous bail application, the prosecution made numerous submissions, one being that the life of the husband will be in danger if the accused is released on bail.”
He added that the accused would remain in custody until her next appearance on September 7 in the Regional Court.
“She is expected to formally make her intention to reapply for bail, based on new facts. Investigations led by the police are continuing,” Senokoatsane stated.
