KANGNAS Wind Farm, in partnership with the Northern Cape Department of Health, funded a women’s wellness event for health workers in Namaqualand in an effort to increase their morale.

Hosted at the Namaqua Guest Farm in Springbok, the two-day event was attended by more than 300 women and recognised the vital role of women health workers and their need for self-care skills and support in achieving a better work-life balance.

The event included a range of valuable services and sessions, ensuring that every participant could benefit from the diverse offerings. Among the offered services were pap smears and breast cancer screenings; blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and Aids screenings; psychosocial support; ‘She is Medicine’(an enlightening session that explored the spiritual aspects of wellness); hand massages; and aerobics and fitness.

In addition to this, the event featured captivating entertainment, including poetry, storytelling and comedy.

The economic development manager for Kangnas Wind Farm, Rouchet Daniels, explained that the event was dedicated to honouring and supporting health workers within communities in Namaqualand.

Daniels said it helped to increase morale and enhance the health and well-being of these workers.

“This event was a testament to our commitment to promoting the health and well-being of the remarkable women who tirelessly serve in the health-care sector,” said Daniels.

“It offered a holistic approach to well-being, addressing various aspects of wellness, including emotional and mental health, physical fitness and spiritual balance.”

Commenting on the event, the head of the Northern Cape Department of Health, Daniel Grootboom, expressed his gratitude to Kangas Wind Farm.

“We are thankful to Kangnas Wind Farm for making this event possible. To all our female health workers, you are beautiful and we admire you for the work that you do,” said Grootboom.

One of the event’s beneficiaries, Carmen Heynse, also expressed appreciation towards the programme.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to attend this event. I really enjoyed it and it was also good to interact with other health workers,” said Heynse.
