A well-known businessman and owner of a local liquor store will apply for bail in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Friday after being arrested on a charge of rape.
A WELL-KNOWN businessman and owner of a local liquor store will apply for bail in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court today after being arrested on a charge of rape.
The alleged incident took place in Hillcrest, Kimberley, on April 19, 2020.
The accused made his first appearance in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on July 4, where the matter was postponed until July 7.
The regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Mojalefa Senokoatsane, said the accused was charged with the rape of a 38-year-old woman in Hillcrest in 2020.
“The accused is in custody and the matter was remanded until July 7 for bail information and possible bail application,” said Senokoatsane.
He indicated that the accused was the brother-in-law of the complainant and therefore could not be identified.
