Despite the weather conditions, employees are working around the clock.
Despite city residents waking up to dry taps this morning, spokesperson for the Sol Plaatje Municipality said all the planned upgrades and repairs were “progressing well”.
Matsie said despite the weather conditions, employees are working around the clock on the matter.
“The major upgrade at Riverton and repairs at corner Bultfontein and Lennox are progressing fairly well. The three repairs on the 965 millimetre pipe between Riverton and Kimberley are also progressing well and water has subsided providing space to work. There are secondary repairs within the neighbourhoods that are also being done,” said Matsie.
He said they also made provision for events which were already on community diaries for the weekend.
“Hospitals and planned events like funerals including sports events are being supplied with water. Jojo tanks are also being distributed as wide as possible and those needing water can contact 053 830 6111. Private companies are also assisting the public,” said Matsie.
Matsie said approximately 80 water tanks will be provided at key spots around the city and community members will be allowed to fill their containers at these tanks.
Community member will be limited to to 10 litres of water at a time.
