SOL PLAATJE Municipality said residents in low-lying areas are expected to start receiving water just after 4pm on Monday afternoon.

Municipal spokesperson Thabo Mothibi said the Riverton taps had started to flow.

“Roodepan, Platfontein and other low-lying areas are expected to start receiving water just after 4pm this afternoon. Water supply to the CBD and neighbouring high-lying residential areas will be restored as per schedule at around 6pm or slightly ahead of the hour,” said Mothibi.

He advised residents to run their taps for a short while until the water cleared, if the water was discoloured.

“This is due to sediment in the pipes. We assure residents that the water is fit for consumption.”

Mothibi stated that they would continue distributing emergency water supplies in water tanks until the water supply was fully restored.

“Similarly, the filling of JoJo tanks will cease once the taps start running.”
