Sol Plaatje municipality has re-introduced water supply interruptions as from January 3 from 9pm until 4am, due to low levels at Newton reservoir.

Spokesperson for Sol Plaatje municipality Thabo Mothibi said the interruptions would be indefinite.

He added that day time water supply interruptions would also be in effect on Saturday and Sunday, January 4-5 from 12pm until 5pm.

“The reintroduction of these measures is due to the drastic decline in Newton reservoir levels, caused by high demand.”

He pleaded with residents to use water sparingly to help manage demand.
