Wanted murder suspect arrested in Prieska

A WANTED murder suspect was arrested by the Hawks in Prieska on Saturday.

The arrest was made after the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team, together with Kimberley TRT and Kimberley Crime Intelligence, followed up on information about a suspect who was wanted on murder and attemped murder charges.

The charges relate to two incidents that took place in Roodepan in January and February.

Hawks spokesperson Captain Tebogo Thebe said a search-and-seizure operation was conducted at the suspect’s house.

“The team found a black 9mm pistol, magazine, and ammunition. A charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was added to the suspect’s charges,” said Thebe.

He added that a vehicle, worth around R50,000, was also seized during the arrest.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Prieska Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
