The VIP protector was covered in blood and was taken away by police escort.

A VIP protector was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm after gunshots were fired in Soul City yesterday morning.

Community members related that the VIP protector, who was driving a black Audi Q7, was covered in blood and was taken away by police escort.

The vehicle was abandoned along the side of the road in Nobengula Street.

Police tape was used to cordon off the house where the incident took place.

Police spokesperson Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said that a case of attempted murder and discharging a firearm had been referred to the Independent Police Investigative Unit following his arrest yesterday.

“A charge was opened against a 47-year-old police officer attached to protection and security services,” said Ramatseba.
