Vigilant Colesberg cops intercept truck transporting drugs

Vigilance and swift action saw the Colesberg police intercept a truck transporting illicit drugs with an estimated street value of R117,000.

IN A SWIFT operation, the Colesberg police acted on intelligence and successfully intercepted a truck at a fuel station in Colesberg. The vehicle was transporting a significant quantity of khat, a stimulant drug.

The truck, believed to be en-route from Johannesburg to Cape Town, was subjected to a thorough search by the police officers. Inside, they discovered 12 boxes containing over 2,300 bundles of khat, weighing a total of 45 kilograms. The estimated street value of this illicit cargo is approximately R117,000.

As a result of this operation, a 41-year-old male suspect was also arrested for possession of drugs and dealing drugs. He is slated to appear before the Colesberg Magistrate’s Court in the near future. The investigation into this case remains ongoing.

The Colesberg police’s vigilance and swift action undoubtedly prevented harmful substances from reaching the streets.
