“We are considering the various options available to us while also keeping open lines of communication with our students”

LECTURES at Sol Plaatje University are expected to resume today after classes were suspended yesterday following student protests at the main campus.

Classes at the institution were also halted on Monday after a stand-off ensued between police and students.

Protesting students were complaining about non-payment of National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NFSAS) bursaries, overcrowded accommodation, poor quality of catered food and the sharing of washing machines at the hostel.

The senior manager of communication and marketing at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Kashini Maistry, said that the university is in constant communication with the students to resolve the matter.

“We are considering the various options available to us while also keeping open lines of communication with our students,” said Maistry.
