A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by the Upington police following a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian near Straussburg on the N10 road on Monday night.

A CASE of culpable homicide is being investigated by the Upington police following a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian near Straussburg on the N10 road on Monday night, at approximately 8pm.

Upington SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said on Tuesday that the pedestrian was declared dead on the scene.

“At this stage, the identity of the deceased male person, who is estimated to be in his mid 20s, is unknown. He was wearing a black shirt and pants,” said Masegela.

Anyone who may have information about the incident or who is able to identify the deceased is requested to contact the investigating officer, Constable Jacques Bezuidenhoudt, on 082 495 4615.
