A 47-YEAR-old undocumented man was arrested by the police in Rietfontein for possession of suspected stolen livestock on Monday.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said police members were conducting farm visits when they came across the suspect, who apparently entered the country through the border fence between South Africa and Namibia and could not produce any legal documents.

“He was in possession of five sheep that he was allegedly trying to sell at the nearby farms,” said Masegela.

“During preliminary investigations, it was discovered that the sheep were brought in from Namibia to South Africa.

“The investigations are continuing.”

The station commander of Rietfontein, Captain Mthuthuzeli Block, applauded the members for their vigilance and warned the public to reject and report stolen goods as buying such goods is a criminal offence.
