TWO WOMEN were arrested in Petrusville during a search-and-seizure operation.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said on Friday that the intelligence-driven operation was led by members from Northern Cape Provincial Crime Intelligence, the Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation, De Aar Public Order Police, Colesberg Visible Police, De Aar Local Criminal Record Centre and the De Aar K9 unit.

“The team searched two premises in Papierblom and Kerk Streets in Petrusville. Both suspects have been under police surveillance, as it was believed that they were involved in drug activities taking place on their premises,” said Tawana.

He added that crystal meth and dagga, as well as cash to the value of R1,101 that was believed to have been generated through drug dealing, were confiscated.

“Ten small packets of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R250, two pistol replicas, magazines and three okapi knives were found in possession of a 42-year-old woman.”

Tawana said that the suspects were expected to appear in the Petrusville Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of dealing in drugs.
